Can connect to Airbag ECU but not ABS ECU???

Hello...I have another very strange thing happening. I connected to the Spider 916 (2.0TS 2000 reg) diagnostics port last night as I have Airbag, ABS and Handbrake light on. I setup the ports on the laptop correctly, tested the ports and all seemed fine. I selected the Airbag pin on the KKL switch and connected Multiecuscan. The Airbag interface was found, I found the errors (electrical grounding fault) and I reset the errors. (I had the whole interior out to clean all the yellow connections with contact cleaner)....so was very happy when the light went out. I disconnected, I took the keys out of the MAR position and put it back onto MAR and everything was OK, airbag light on for 3 seconds, then off.
So, time for the ABS connection. I selected the ABS pin on the KKL with the keys in MAR and selected connect...as the software scanned, the ABS light and the Handbrake Light started to flicker quite a bit, then went off. The Multiecuscan said it couldn't connect to the ECU??. I tested my connection again and everything was fine...I disconnected the KKL and took the keys out...I put the key back in and both he ABS and Handbrake lights were on????
I scanned on all pins for all interfaces and had the airbag ECU and the Hood ECU (which I couldn't connect to) but no sign of the Engine or ABS ECU.
I have the free version of Multiecuscan.
