HI I hope some one can help.

I have tried to do a proxy align of my 2004 Fiat punto 1.2 8v and get a "data out of range error" does anyone know what causes this or how I might resolve the issue?

Thanks,

Stuart

Hi Stuart

Another question:
Else have trouble reading?
or is the only error in the proxy Aligm. ?

Complete the interface to the vehicle at times, and do a test
use the button on
MES / settings / interface / and press the "Test" button
what is displayed?

Greetings Eddy

Hi Stuart

Once again the question.
Can you connect to other controllers???
e.g. Motor control or
ABS (with adapter green)

If so, MES can read with your ELM interface not CAN bus
although the test display indicates this as Functional

Then you can find a lot here to

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1493

But first answer times if you get a connection with your ECU

Hi Eddy,

I can connect to the dashboard and a few other modules ok.

I can't connect to the ecu and when I try to connect to the body computer I get an "invalid ISO code"

My ECU is a Magneti Marelli IAW 59FM3 so should connect without the invalid ISO code message.

Could this be a problem with my ELM cable? I opened it up and it does not have the resistors shown on the thread you posted.

Any other ideas?

Hello Stuart

This is not a problem with a resistor in the interface, since you can read the CAN bus protocols (CAN setup, body, instrument control, etc.) right?

Again, you can connect to the ABS 8 produce??
this you need the green adapter

If the connection is with the ABS, I suspect that the ECU 59FM3
another as is stated in the MES?
There only the IAW 59F is specified, no M3
where the difference is I do not know.

Trying to be a connection with the ABS, then you're sure
that your ELM interface works.

Greetings Eddy

Maybe you can not do PROXY because your engine ECU or body ECU is not supported by MES...
So when MES starts procedure (proxy) it does check all ECUs and all data and when it see something which is not supported maybe is shows errors (like "data out of range error").
This is just a guess...

On older Puntos I did tried to do sometimes this PROXY usually after replacing the dashboard or stereo. I got blinking display and after proxy I got the same message: "data out of range error". But at the end the display on dashboard did not blinked any more. So even with the error procedure did succeed. ;)

Hi Guys,

thanks for the help. I tried to connect to the ABS module using the green adaptor, however I could not connect using the ELM interface.

When I do a can search the modules are showing up.

I can connect to the ECU, however when I try and connect to the body compuet I get an "ISO code not recognised" and if I accept this and carry on to proxy align, the software connects to the dahboard and body computer only and give data out of range errors on each module before indication that the proedure has failed.

My car is a 2004 1.2 8v, fairly common and not modified so I think the software should work, is it likely to be some problem with the interface?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Stuart
