Different ECUs supporting different functions and available parameters to read and/or set.

The Hitachi MPI is an older ECU.

The Bravo 1.4 Turbo 16V uses a Bosch Motronic ME7.9.10 ECU

What parameters are you trying to reset?

As far as I know the only things that can be easily reset on old ECUs is the "ecu learnt driving parameters".

This is done by disconnecting the battery for a period of time, reconnecting and then following a procedure.

ONE procedure for SOME older ECU is.

1) start car from COLD and allow to idle till engine fan cuts in and out twice
2) fast idle car at around 2500rpm for 5 to 10 minutes
3) allow car to idle for another 3 to 5 minute
4) switch off ignition

NEXT time you start the car drive it normally and gently. NO hard acceleration or excess RPM use.

I don't know what the recommended process is for the Hitachi ECU but doing the above will cause no harm.

I personally don't know any more information other than I have provided. Maybe somebody else on this forum can provide additional information.
