Odometer 0,0 on multiple AR156 1.9 JTD 2002

On several JTD's from 2002, the odometer sticks at 0,0 km, also the "last value before rewrite" is 0,0 km.
This happens in all version of FES and MES.
As far as I know this only happens with the 2002 model of the 156.
It's a euro3 car with facelift interior but old exterior (nose).
ECU EDC15C7, I have the original mapping (got it via a Galetto I borrowed) if you're interested.
Just thell me what more info you need.
Thanks.

To all
On some cars MES can read odometer in engine ecu and on some can not do it.
Sometimes car needs to be driven to official service and they do some kind of update and after that you can read odometer with MES (same thing happen on some new 159 and new Fiats).
Sometimes some people who are putting lower kilometres on dashboard, usually with cracked software, they kill this data in engine ECU (it can happen but rarely).

If you see 0.0km then this is a sign of playing with odomter on the dashboard. 100%
If you see a funny number that is not similar to that one on the dashboard, then don't worry, that is a bug in ECU software. That is very common on 2003-2008 JTDs with EDC16 ECU. There is a software update that solves this problem but it is not available for all cars (you can get it for 159, but not for 147 GT 156)

Sorry, have to disagree with 100% statement.

Disagree all that you want, but I have tested this on few hundred cars, and it is always the same.
If you have EDC16 JTD of older year, up to 2008 it will show different number than on dashboard, but the number will change as you drive. If it is an updated ECU software or 2008+ car then Odometer shows real mileage +-3%.
But if the car odometer has been fiddled with, then it just shows 0.0km all the time. No matter what year, no matter what software.
I have never seen a car from first owner with 100% real mileage showing 0.0km, but when I check second hand (and imported) cars there is around 60% cars with 0.0km on odometer parameter. Why do you think is that?
It is all related to odometer fraud. When you rewind odometer the ECU parameter gets stuck at 0.0km.
And the parameter is the same no matter if you check with MultiECUScan, Alfadiag, or AlfaOBD...

Well I will disagree.
I disputed your 100% claim that all cars ECU that show zero have been tampered with. May be true for some but not all so claiming 100% will uneccessarily frighten some people!
Fiat Croma EDC16/39 CF4 is a known case. (same ECU as AR159).
I have the above, from new and it has never been tampered with. Originally I could read an odometer value from the ECU many moons ago but then some FiatECUScan versions and time later the ECU mysteriously reported zero km and has done so ever since. Meanwhile the DPF odometer/distance etc. km counters in the ECU still work and for 'last replaced' shows a within tolerance value that matches the dashboard odometer. Explain that!
THIS IS A KNOWN ECU problem that others have also reported and has been discussed.
