147 Selespeed - Connect to engine but not gearbox

Hi all
I have a 2007 Alfa 147 2.0 TS Selespeed, and am cannot get access to the Selespeed ECU.
I have followed the instructions here on serial drivers and port settings, and I can access the engine ECU fine - managed to clear 2 error codes that I didn't know about. But everytime I try to access the gearbox ECU, I get the message that ECU is not responding and to check cable etc.
I'm using a VAGcom cable off ebay and FES 3.3 (free). Are there some other settings that I should be looking at ? Thanks

Can anyone help me please ? I don't think there is anything wrong with my cable or port settings since I can connect to the engine ECU easily, so why is it that I cannot connect to the Selespeed ECU ?
There are 2 ECU options in FES for a 147 Selespeed gearbox ECU, I tried both but keep getting the same message ECU not responding.
I am trying with the key in MAR, and gearbox in N, what else should I be doing ?
Thanks

Hello
Very mysterious, you can read your engine ECU but ECU is not the Sele
Even with the free version of FES, you should connect the ECU Sele
can.
You should check the connectors on the ECU once Sele
It may also be that this is your controller is broken.

I agree with
Alfaeddy...
maybe connectors are lose somewhere...
Did you try to "Scan" your car? Does it read all ECUs (engine, abs, airbags... and SeleSpeed)?

I am happy to report that the problem seems to be solved.
After some poking around, I discovered my netbook was running a factory installed power management system in the background. Once I disabled the power management completely, I can now connect to the Selespeed ECU.
No idea why the Selespeed ECU is more sensitive to this setting than the engine ECU, but at least the problem is fixed. Thanks to those who responded with your thoughts.

At the risk of jumping on an old (and solved) post, it could be that the latency setting of your COM port is too high.
I had exactly the same problem using the VAGCOM/KKL cable, but not with the ELM interface.
When using the KKL cable I could access the engine ECU but kept seeing a "Latency too high" warning flashing in the bottom left corner. Once I had read the "How to use" section of this site and followed the instructions for adjusting the latency to "1", now the KKL cable brings up the Selespeed ECU.
