hi, Material:
Contact spray:
CONTACT WL - Conrad No.: 813605-62
or similar products. Should be fat-dissolving!
Compressed air:
either from the can or by supercharger. Must not be.
Tool:
4 Allen - Removing steering column cover (A)
10 wrench - cover dismantling servo unit (B)
13er wrench - steering column disassembly (C)
Electrician thin screwdriver - Cleaning the sensor (D)
But now you go from right ...
Steps:
Driver's seat all the way back! Ye do easier.
1) removing the steering column cover
First, remove the cover of the fuse box. To open with a 5-cent coin and the screws then unclip the bottom.
Then unscrew the four screws of the steering column cover and then lift off the cover, first down and then up on the steering column switch, pull it down. It is helpful here to open the lever, the steering wheel height adjustment.
2) Dismantling cover servo unit
Around the same to clarify, the cover must not be unscrewed, but the subsequent cleaning without coverage is much easier. And yet it's only three of 10 screws. After the cover is below the control unit of the power steering is revealed. Here you can immediately remove the connector on the left. Goes to the sensor which we will still maintain afterwards.
3) Loosen steering column
Left and right of the steering column, there are two number 13 screws. These solve and then fold down the steering column. The steering column is then on to the crossbar of the dashboard.
4) Sensor expose
According to previous work, the whole should now look something like the right. The sensor sits on the left side of the steering column, where the blue wire ends. He is protected by a covering of rubber. This is fairly easy to remove. Simply pry with a screwdriver. However, paying attention to the lines. The sensor can not stake out or take out, but makes nothing!
5) Clean the sensor and gear
Now the sensor is cleaned. First, coarse, then fine. First, therefore, with an electrician's screwdriver (these are the long thin) grossly remove the fat. Always carry food while steering movements. The only way you get rid of everything. After most of the dirt out there now should be the screwdriver with a bit role in household wrap and start the whole procedure again.
Now the sensor is sprayed with a contact spray. Clean after a short contact time with the re-wrapped screwdriver. Tries rauszubekommen as much as possible! And do not forget on steering. I'm always in between times blown out with compressed air to accelerate the drying process. Can you do but you do not.
6) Clean the sensor and gear
No, you are not reading twice, but is still a go with the screwdriver and the budgetary role! I've spent most of time the sensor clean. There goes out a lot just scary!
Once you have the feeling of the sensor is clean and dry it with contact spray nachsprühen now leave. Best overnight or day (but then you should begin to work in the morning.
7) Assembly
Before you begin to assemble again cleans the sensor, then go in again with the budgetary role and a screwdriver. If the household role still be wet, with the assembly still waiting!
Put first on the cover of the sensor again and closes it again to the control device.
Then she mounted the steering column (size 13 screws), the cover of the servo unit (10 screws) and the cover of the steering column (4mm Allen key). Respects it is correctly seated on the steering wheel.
8) Function Test
Now the wheel is straight and starts the engine. If all goes well, the power steering working again.
After I had tried my steering is the first time to repair, nothing much happens. It worked briefly but then again given up the ghost. I then again the next day and performed all the steps since it works perfectly again. In all situations. On the highway, with parking, city transport, etc.
Eventually, the steering works on this FAQ still not, then you've tried it but, at least. I've found after much internet research and a shortened guide was in contact with the creator. According to his statements, he has been repaired several steering and all worked again!
In this way, a sincere thank you to him! He has at least saved me a lot of money!
