Great News from ELM eletronics:

"There has been a lot of interest in an OBDII chip that supports only CAN protocols, so here it is. We've taken the best from our ELM327, added to it, and produced the ELM329. Three new protocols pre-defined for you, a number of new functions, and the ability to use the chip in existing ELM327 circuits all make this a great new addition to our existing product line.
The data sheet should be complete, and the chip fully tested in July. "

With ELM327 I have three protocols. Why do you think it will be useful to have a cable with one protocol only?
