Hi
I Have previously connected to my power steering module using a modified cable (FIAT Croma Mjet 8v), but now it is showing as a removed CAN Module (NGE). I have looked through the FES instructions but there is no information about what this means. If i run the Proxi Algnment procedure will it reset the power steering Control unit CAN parameters.

Hi,

Do you have any error codes in the power steering module?
Showing this module as "removed" means that there is probably no connection between Body Computer and the Power steering module. So, if this is the case then you chould have the following error in the power steering module "U1700 - CAN network (NGE - NBC)"

Hi Yani
I cannot connect to the power steering ECU to check the fault codes and the power steering failure light is lit on the instrument panel. Does the proxi alignment reset the parameters of the CAN network in the body computer, or via the CANBUS to the individual ECU's.

So, you have a problem with the power steering.
If you cannot connect to it with Multiecuscan (or other diagnostic software) and you also have the failure light on the instrument panel then the power steering ECU is not working at all. It probably does not have power.
Did you check the fuses? And also for some unlugged connector? The power steering ECU in Croma should be somewhere in the engine compartment.

This is also the reason why Body Computer reports the power steering module as removed.
The PROXI Alignment does not affect the operation of the Power Steering unit in Croma. If you execute the procedure it will set a flag inside Body Computer that you don't have power steering unit and the failure light on the dashboard will not light anymore. However, after you fix the power steering module and execute PROXI alignment again it will set the flag inside Body Computer that you have power steering and the light on dashboard will work again.

Hi pauld78,

One month ago I changed the power steering unit on my fathers Croma 150CV and there was no need to do the proxi. It was only connect the unit and remove the errors present mainly in the body computer.
As yany told the EPS unit is on the engine bay and the only connector present are in the pump. This eps unit from TRW is quite faulty.
I have opened the faulty unit and on that time I was suspicious with on of the transistors, but on that time we have bought a recon unit directly from FIAT.

Any other doubt don't hesitate to ask.
