Hello,

I have a customer here with the airbag light on, first it came on intermittently, but now it's on all the time.

I always get this fault : 09 Passenger squib circuit, value to high, intermittent/present 86

I can't erase the fault.

I replaced the connectors under the passenger seat by the new one from alfa, (partn: 50507402)
But same fault code and I can't erase it.

anybod know what this can be?

kind regardsn,

Nick

Most of Alfas 147, 156... have this problem. sometimes you can fix it in seconds, but sometimes takes some time to delete error codes.
Few advices:
1 turn ON ignition in the car. erase the error codes.
if the FES did not erase all errors in the first time just try to turn OFF ignition and then turn ON again and try to erase it again! you can do it few times.
2 turn ON ignition in the car. unplug the connectors and then try to erase the error codes. you can do it few times.
3 turn OFF the ignition in the car. wait 10 minutes. than disconnect the battery (+ or -) and wait for 15 minutes. than connect the battery and turn ignition ON and try to erase the error codes.

this is from my experience! all this things are happening to me every second or third time…

I did it on my Alfa at least 10 times. When you unplug the connectors it says „OPEN circuit passenger side”! (or driver side depends of which connector do you unplug!)

safe it is, because on some vehicles, you have a bad contact in this plug under seat, then it opens the circuit all the time, and you get an advise on your OBC for this reason...this is my experience on a Renault Espace

Had this problem recently, could not delete the error.
Tried few times, restarted the engine few times..no luck.

Then I disconnected the battery, and waited 15 minutes.
Checked the wiring under the seat, it was a mess. Plugs/connectors were OK, but connectors and wires were loose, and flying all around. I suppose that loose wires and connectors caused electrical glitches when moving around.
Disconnected, then re-connected the plugs, and tide up the wires and attached wires and connectors with electrician tape to the bracket to original position under the seat.
Then, reconnected the battery.
After all this I was able to erase the error without any problems.
