ELM 327 Baudrate

Hi Yani,
What baudrate are you running the Elm interface at, or can I set it myself in the Setup screen?
Is there a standard baudrate for all Fiat, Alfa & Lancias?
All this of course refer to the K-Line protocol on the ELM 327.
I am using an ELM 327 v1.3 Bluetooth interface and get very poor connections on some cars(Fiats mostly (Hitachi))
The connection are specifically poor when I look at the parameters.
It may be RFI causing it, but I am not sure. I hope by selecting the correct baudrate may help.
On the KKL interface, is the baudrate the rate as selected for the device in windows OS?
There is no fascility in FES to change it as in your earlier versions.
The KKL interface also drops the communication occasionaly.
The Latency is set at minimum (1)
Thanks,
Dev

Hi,

ELM 327 1.3 interfaces are usually pre-programmed for 38400 bps.
If you select incorrect baudrate the interface will not work at all.
You should not disable the serial port buffers for ELM interfaces.

With KKL interface the baudrate is fixed - 4800bps for airbags and 10400bps for engines, abs, etc.
Do you get "Latency..." message with the KKL cable? How fast is your computer and do you run other programs when working with Multiecuscan?

Hi Yani,
Thanks for your response. My laptop is a 600Mhz Single core Intel Pentium M
with 1.048Gb Ram. I do get latency warning. My latency is set to minimum.

Hi Yani,
Oh yes, no other programs are running and the serial port buffers are set to Max.
Maybe I can set them lower. I have not tried that before.
