Grande Punto VVT position Excessive Advance?

Hi, does anyone know what's the ideal position of the VVT and what exactly is "excessive" advance?
Advance of what (crank or camshaft)?
Example on the picture (Grande Punto/Evo 1,4 8V). Let's say first VVT position (1)...
When it's 103 degrees it's "excessive advance".
Then about 106 is "closed loop".
Next is "excessive adv." again (109 and more, mine has 112 now).
Is this a software bug (that it says "advance" twice, instead "retarded/advanced")?
In all cases above the cars are driving OK, no fault codes...
