Stop/Start Neutral Learn - P1306-62

Using MES on an iPad if that makes any difference. Replaced the shifter cable in my fiat 500 after it snapped and a few days later an EML appeared. My local mechanic said it was a shifting error.

The error was: P181D-64 - Gear lever position sensor (plausibility) - Signal/message plausibility

Tried the neutral learn and now have an error I can’t clear: P1306-62 - Neutral signal learn - Signal compare failure

Saw on the forum that with stop/start to try the process with the engine on but no luck with this. When I run the neutral learn I get: Completed Status: Unknown

Any help and guidance is greatly appreciated!

Am I doing something wrong with the process?

The steps say the following:

Key on MAR, in neutral and no errors (can’t clear the P181D-64, if I clear, it reappears instantly).
  1. Car in neutral, Press execute
  • Wait ~2 seconds
  • Press clutch and put car into first
What happens when I do it:
  1. Engine on or key in MAR and in neutral - same result
  • Press execute
  • 1 second later - Completed Status: Unknown
  • Press clutch and put in first
  • Follow prompt to switch off car
  • Error returns when car is turned on

Am I doing something wrong here?

Greatly appreciate any help and guidance

are you sure shifter cables are adjusted properly? not sure how it's done on your model but usually there are special fixation holes to put gearbox and shifter into locked position when installing and adjusting cables.
