Hi there,

I purchased an ELM327 v1.5 Bluetooth OBD reader which detects when plugged into the car, but won't connect to the ECU. My car is a 1998 Hyundai Excel (australia) & according to hyundai, it's OBD2 compatible.

I tried to post larger images, but was getting an error saying I could only post images upto 800pixels wide...

I tested pin 6 & 14 and found a resistance of 121. I traced it to Resistor(?) 121 & removed it (I thought I had too.. now I'm not too sure :\ ) as seen in the picture above.

Unfortunately the PCB doesn't have any writing to say what is what :\

I connected it to my car again after removing, and still won't connect. I'm pretty sure it uses the 'CAN' protocol.

Any tips would be great :)

Kind Regards,

What software did you use to your Hyundai to read?
This is about Multiecuscan, and only has Multiecuscan
Problems with this bridge resistance.

oh... i was using 'Torque' which is an Android App. I'll download "Multiecuscan" and try. Would it still connect with the Free version ?

Hello Widget

Just to make statement
The Resistor problem only affects Multiecuscan
and this only in the CAN bus protocol (ISO15765)

your Hyundai is not read with CAN bus, but
with ISO 9141 (K-Line) or ISO 14230 (KWP2000)

Therefor is this topic does not apply here your Hyundai.

Torque is a nice inovative software.
But it is not certain the torque can read any control.

Also I think it is not sure that your Hyundai
already has the OBD2 standard.
Then it goes anyway not to read with torque.

With Multiecuscan you can not read your to control

Hi stefancaromov

What problem you have with the ELM?
Which vehicle would you like to read?
What controls you can not read?

Your pictures are very large but very blurry

I can recognize as a mistake on your ELM.

Especially not since you're describing a mistake.
