Hello everyone,
I've got a simple question, i think. I've switched my instrument panel from a grande punto 1.4 8V because the original one was broken. But when i connected it the new one (from a scrap yard), everything worked except for the speed meter. I went to the dealer charging me 80 euro's , but they could only tell me that it was a problem with fault code u1700.
So i heard that the speed meter could be working if i do a proxy alignment. My question is if this is true, if this is possible with the FES software and if it is possible with a ELM 327 1.5a cable.
Perhaps not that simple question, but maybe someone went down that road
So if anyone could help me, thanks in advance...
Proxi alignment grande punto
Re: Proxi alignment grande punto
Proxi alignment can be done on a Grande Punto using an ELM327 and FES. (If it's an ELM "1.5" you may need to modify your interface though - see the faulty elms thread).
From what I understand of it, the proxi alignment scans the car for modules on the CAN network, and adds anything it finds into the system - so it may fix the issue. It's a bit odd that the rest of the cluster is already working though.

Yeah well, some guys at the fiat forum suggested that the proxi alignment procedure can solve this problem.
The thing is that i normally had a small board computer (with a digital clock and a trip computer), and replaced it with a larger board computer (with rds text on it). And these extra functions worked like a charm. But the speedo meter doesn't work. Probably the instrument panel is from a different car engine, but would it still be possible for me to align it with my body computer trough a proxi alignment.

Just a quick question, when fitting the new dials what happened to your mileage?kris wrote:Yeah well, some guys at the fiat forum suggested that the proxi alignment procedure can solve this problem.

The milage number started to blink, and the value changed in a higher value.

Are you not able to change to the correct engine mileage with this software?kris wrote:The milage number started to blink, and the value changed in a higher value.
Re: Proxi alignment grande punto
Probably, but I don't understand the relation with my question. Am I missing the picture here ?
