Don't worry about the "found" interface on COM3. Just ignore it. It does not affect the functionality of the program.
The search function simply finds a loopback serial interface at COM3. This could be a simple loopback serial driver of some other software... or something like this.

The interface must be connected to the car when searching for interfaces because most of the interfaces do not work without power from the OBD port.

Your problem seems very weird. It should not be a problem that you touched your interface to +. Also, if the interface is damaged then why it does not work with other interface.
Did you test on another car? It is possible that you have blown some fuse on your car.
