Odometer doesn't show correct value

Post by stefanococci »

Hi Yani,
I have a 2001 Fiat Stilo 2.4 Selespeed.
The car odometer shows 109100km and so in "Service" section of FES.
But if I connect on "Engine" section the odometer value shows on FES in 82300km.
If I connect on "Gear box" section and add all kilometers travelled in each gear the total amount is 89140km.
I saw the ECU have been reprogrammed 1 time at 0km.
What about these kilometers differences?
Is it possible that that the distance travelled by the gear box is less than the distance travelled by the engine because of a gear box replacement? If so why the car odometer shows more kilometers than FES "Engine" section?
Which is the correct amount of kilometers of my car?

I can't connect on electric power steering.
Thanks. Stefano.

Hi,

You need a modified interface or a cable adapter to connect to the power steering module.

Hi stefano

my stilo 2.4 abarth is the same.

About 5000 km difference from the FES odometer and the dashboard. The gearbox mileage is also different.
FES says my Ecu was reprogrammed at about 64k miles.

I don't understand what it means. Reprogrammed how? was it possible they removed miles before I bought the car?

this deviation is completely normal. Is on almost all vehicle types sun.

Only more miles/km in the engine control unit as on the speedometer is a sign of manipulation.

Hi, I tested the Alfa 147 1.9JTD 2002, Odometer showed that there are 1,000,124 km ... which is impossible, and an additional odometer showed below 0.1 km.?
On other cars it was ok, Is it possible to reach such a mistake ..

This problem is not only in software but also in ECU of all Alfas 147.
I tested on several Alfas 147 and each time i got about million figure! :o
You need to do some calculation.
First read Odometer in Alfa 147. Than drive a car for a 1km. After that read Odometer again! Then you will see how much Odometer get higher. And that just do some calculation.

Each time I did this on Alfas 147 and got information that when you drive car a 1km the Odometer is getting higher 5km. So just this million number that is shown on Odometer divide with 5 and you will get an approximately (not a 100%) how much car does have real kilometers.

@ idoljan
You should have about 200 000km on your dashboard! ;)

Are you sure that it is a ECU problem? and not a indication that somebody changed odometer value?

I have seen few 147 with correct odometer values, and few with values like that (600-700 000 km).
All cars with correct values had only one owner, and cars with big odometer values were from 3-4-5-th owner, and looked like some previous owner was cheating with km on odometer.

I have the same problem on my Alfa 145 2.0 Twin Spark.
The KM reading on the car is currently 181000km but when I connect with the fiat Ecu Scan it says 760555 KM.
Weird???

A common problem

Have this on my Croma 2005 as well.

Not sure why this is happening. In my case I've had the car from new so unless the garage messed with the car prior to delivery then the difference is not explained.
