It is VERY unlikely that multiecuscan will ever offer ANY function that is not a standard Examiner function.

To close EGR requires updating the ECU EEPROM which requires more specialist hardware and software.

At least you must have a tool to read the ecu eeprom such as EOBD1260 which you can buy in the bay. Then you have to modify the EGR Map and write back the bin-file to the ECU with the tool I mentioned above. For my car (Alfa 159 EDC16/CF4) it works perfect.

hi,
I have the same engine with the same ECU and I use exactly the tool you find on the bay. You have to read out the eeprom with the software which comes with the tool (EOBD1260). It takes about 45 min, so be sure your batteries (laptop and car) are in top condition. Then you have to modify the binary file on the wright positions (thats the real trick) and flash back the modified binary file to your eeprom with the EOBD1260 tool. This tooks only about 20 seconds.

That's it.

Please can you expand on how you turned EGR off on the EDC16/CF4 ECU. Shutting the EGR valve is only a small part of the problem. The ECU has to be updated to also not monitor "calculated" EGR gas flows.

hi, yes you are right.
I general there are at least two ways to shutt off EGR.First you can apply high values to the air-desired map, lets say for the 1.9 jtd about 1200 mg/cyc. So the EGR is closed and you have to edit a second map for the air mass deviation. Here you apply values about 1000mg/cyc and the diagnosis will not come in. The second way is to edit quantity curves where you can switch of the EGR by the current injected quantity. This is the better way, but it is much more difficult to identify curves then maps in such binary files.

So where did you get the info/details about ECU map memory locations/offsets or source code listing to know exactly where to patch? With tool, internet download or other source?

hi, great sources are chiptuners.org for map locations and digital-chaos for SW. The rest is know-how(I'am professional) and hard work.
