Is it possible to modify a ELM interface (how could you open the socket whitout damage the whole thing) , or better to modify an VAGCOM KKL ?
I am now using a ELM 5 interface on my Fiat Stilo 1.8 16v, and it works great.
But i like to use the possibilty to read ABS, TRW steer and maybe Airbag.
Thanks
Johan
Modify ELM 5 or Vagcom kkl
Re: Modify ELM 5 or Vagcom kkl
Firstly there is no such thing as Elm 1.5
The latest version is Elm 1.4.
Many fake Chinese clones quote V1.5
Some of these clones appear to work OK.
If you don't want to modify your device then you need an EOBD patch box or a set of modified cables.
See here for suitable modified cables: http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_FESCBL.html

Sorry for the language, its dutch
But about the cable, i already bought a VAGCOM Cable wich i am going to modify, its no a problem for me, to built in a switch to separate pin 3 from the others.
Only what I don't understand the cable linkings on the photo's at http://www.multiecuscan.net/HowToUse.aspx
The text says:
"To connect to the TRW electric power steering ECU you need to connect your cable to pin 9 of the OBD connector. You can easily modify your cable in order to be able to connect to ABS, Engine Management and EPS ECUs. You just need to solder a short wire between pins 1, 7 and 9 similar to the photo above".
But on the Photo i see a connection between 1-7 and 11 and not 9 connected?
Maybe you have to connect the extra things (1ABS or 3Airbag or 9TRW) to pin 11 (signalpin) or am i thinking wrong now?
Can somebody explain me?

OK, i have googled arround....
Fiat is using the ISO protocol, so you have to connect 1-9 or 3 to pin 7 (K-line)
And pin 11 at the photo is only used as an easy connectionpoint for the wires
Am I right now?

Re: Modify ELM 5 or Vagcom kkl
That is correct. You need to connect 1-7-9 for ABS/EPS, and pin 3 for airbags.
Pin 11 is not connected on the picture. It just looks connected because of the angle and lighting of the photo.
