Can read but won't connect. 2015 Ducato 3.0

So I'm trying to proxi reset an airbag module (Common fault on Ducatos)/
I'm using and elm usb wired device and a yellow adapter cable.
COM port is 3 and the software can see the vehicle as 'scan DTC' works fine, but 'connect' errors with the cannot connect message.
Am I doing something wrong?
I've selected the correct vehicle from the list.

How come its happy to read the vehicle, list out faults and allow me to clear them, but it fails to connect saying the ECU can't be found when I click 'connect'...?

I should add that i'm using a bbfly VINT-TT55502 ELM USB interface.
Perhaps I should be using another interface. Happy to take recommendations...

does "Scan DTC/Scan" returns airbag module in the list? and what do you mean "proxi reset" there is no such thing.

Hi,
I think so, will need to check. I can get back onto it this afternoon.

The proxi is the function I'm told I need to do when replacing the airbag control module. Ducato's regularly fry their airbag modules, it's my turn now...
