Hi Whiley I have a similar ELM327 cable. Which is exactly the resistor to remove? (I see no photo attached in your latest post). Thank you!

I bought this kit off of amazon and for anyone who has this problem and has the red board see picture below of 120 ohm resistor to remove.
Hi Whiley, I have the same circuit board but I'm unsure what to do. There doesn't seem to be a photo attached. Please could you give a bit more advice? Cheers.

For my ELM327 USB interface, the 120ohm resistor is located here:

Encircled in blue. Usually between pins 6 and 7 of the CAN transceiver integrated circuit (8 pin SOIC, here named 1044)

Remove the red marked resistor on your board
and your interface is also capable of Multiecuscan CAN Bus

This helped me, mine board is red but resistor is the same.
Thank you very much. Fiat 500C sport 2014

Hi all,

Just registered on this forum to gather some more information about the ELM mod. Only... I can't find any information about the latest Chinese interface. It is the same pcb for the 1.5 and the 2.1 version. It doesn't connect with AlfaOBD / MES, other apps are working (even the elm identifier).

This is the board:

Any idea if there is any resistor that needs to be removed or is it not possible to apply the mod to this device?

Thanks in advance.

Hallo, may I ask as I am not an electronic boffin. You mentioned 2 resistors and 2 capacitors, but in your photos I only see one resistor and capacitor soldered together and the pins it is soldered to on the board are not that clear on the picture? Then it seems you removed R14 so that circuit will be open right? Kindly advise - much appreciated

Thank you TS Yani!

I backtracked your steps and found the 120 ohm resistor on my PCB too, removed it, and now it works, even without the prescribed CAN termination. I will terminate the CAN lines properly before I attempt coding. Together with the PL2303 driver build by John Stevinson it is working now. I will proceed buying MEC registered.
