Hi,
Is anybody familiar with the procedure for adding a key? I have a 500L 2014 which came with 1 key (original) and 2 new uncut keys, I got the blades cut at a local locksmith who told me that 1 key had a transponder and ! key did not,(although he was not sure ) I have a couple of questions regarding programming these keys , If there is a problem with the fob boards or transponders will the program tell me before anything is rewritten and if 1 key is good and 1 not will the program tell me before the original key is affected?
Another query is regarding the Proxy alignment process, When I went through this I see that a lot of the settings are different to the car . EG. the car is a 1.3 multijet engine but the list says 1.4 petrol. there are a number of settings wrong and i've read somewhere that changing these might stop the car starting, clarification would be very much appreciated .

If you want to program a new key you need the key code (blue card, usually inside the same pouch as the instrucion manual). It is descriped in great detail in MES on how to program a new key.
If your car is working fine don't change anything in proxy menu. For example engine type is for the little lcd screen on the insturment panel. A lot of times t differs from the actual engine in the car.

Hello
Thanks for the info , I wasn't really asking about the procedure , I think the instructions are quite clear, What I was really after was whether or not the process would stop the original key working if anything went wrong. I have the code supplied by Fiat
and I have 2 "virgin" keys which were in the car when I had it, A local locksmith cut the blades from the original, and told me that 1 of the keys had a transponder in and the other one did not, is there any way for me to check the presence or not, or if I went ahead and the key or keys were faulty will the program stop before it deletes the original key? Any help will be very much appreciated.

If one key has no transponder chip in it then I would strongly suggest that you DO NOT try/use that key in the programming sequence. Use of a blank key in the programming sequence is likely to terminate the process and potentially leave keys before, and after, in some strange state with respect to the key control unit/ECU.

If you have a key with buttons you can actually see if there is a transponder in the key. But if you start to key programming you have to have all the keys you want to program, you can't add keys that way. The only way to add keys is to programm all the keys present.catmandu wrote: ↑10 May 2024, 11:44 Hello
