Hi,

I tried to read the whole thread but almost 300 pages are too much.
So please excuse me if this question has been discussed before.

I Have an Alfa 159 and i have always connected successfully with my ELM v1.4 cable to all modules - except ABS of course - for it I use VAG-Com cable with switch.

Unfortunately I changed my laptop recently and now I cannot connect to all modules, although I use the same cable, on the same car, with the same version of FES.
Now I am able to connect only to the engine and the Gearbox ( Aisin - automatic). I am not able to connect to Body or to Service, nor Parktronic or any of the doors' ECUs.

I have opened the ELM and I see that the resistor ( R04), that usually makes this problem is not placed by the producer on the first place - that is why I had no problems with my old laptop.
The only difference now is that all USB ports on mu new laptop are 3.0 - which actually should be better, as far as I know.
I am posting some images of the interface.
Can you give me any idea what to do?

Hello

This is very strange ????

At the interface it is not.
Since it has worked with your old laptop.

The bridge resistor (R4) is not available.

What driver did you use?

Please use this,
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

Has your laptop only 3.0 usb
Mine also has 2.0 ports

Although I do not believe this is a problem.

Make times a screen of the interface test and set this here

Hm,

now when you say - I remembered that I have not installed these drivers for ftdichip, but the COM port works OK - the cable is up on COM3, I have reduced the latency to 1.

The interface test runs OK - all is OK.

I will install the drivers and try again and revert. If it does not happen with these drivers, I will test also all ECUs with my VAC-COM cable.

Hi,

I installed the drivers for FTDI chip and reinstalled the driver for the COM port. My Win 10 says that there is no need to change the driver.

I tested on car, but the situation is the same... FES says that ELM327-> ECU connection is not possible

The last resort I have is to try with my old laptop, which I reinstalled and now I have to install all the things back on it.
Here are the tests of the interface made with FES:

Code: Select all

COMMAND: ATZ
RESPONSE:

ELM327 v1.4

>

COMMAND: ATI
RESPONSE: ATI

ELM327 v1.4

>

COMMAND: ATE0
RESPONSE: ATE0

OK

This interface is compatible with ELM 327 1.4! Should connect properly with all CAN modules.

This is the test for the VAG-COM cable:

Code: Select all

VagCom/KKL

Testing latency with 200 bytes of data...
Min latency: 0
Max latency: 2

Testing timers...
(The acceptable tolerance for results is ~5 ms)

System supports high resolution timer.

Testing timer with 1000 ms...
..result: 1001 ms

Testing timer with 250 ms...
..result: 251 ms

Testing timer with 750 ms...
..result: 751 ms

Testing timer with 100 ms...
..result: 101 ms
All seems OK, but I cannot connect to anythig else than the engine and gearbox, with vag-com also am able to connect to ABS
Obviously I can connect only to the modules that use the K line, the others are not reachable.

The only possible thing that might have happened, as I have not used the cable for 6 months, is that during this time I gave it to a friend of mine to use it on a BMW and to another who tried to use in on FORD and may be the cable has been damaged in any way...
Is that possible?

Hello

And again, to connect to your Motorecu of the Punto, no Resistor must be removed.
Since the motor is not read via CAN bus.

If it does not work, then also with other protocols not.

The resistor of the possible CAN problems is below the first board
