Newbie info, proxi alignment

Post by Studentas »

Hello,

As im new to this, i would like to ask for a help. I recently retrofitted multifuncion steering wheel to my Fiat Stilo. And now my odometer flashes. Infact i know it requires Proxi alignment. Later on im planning to add cruise control, which should also require proxi alignment.

So my questions would be:

Will the registered (for 50eur fee) multiecuscan would let me to do the proxi alignment? Assuming free version wont?
And if its not too much to ask, what obd II cable should i buy for my car? I find various of cables on ebay, and dont want to choose the wrong one. I drive Fiat Stilo 1.6 Petrol, 2002.

Thanks in advance.

First look here: http://www.multiecuscan.net/SupportedVehiclesList.aspx

Scroll down to your particular Fiat Stilo Model. Specific interfaces and cables are indicated on the right hand side against each car ecu/module.

Control units in RED require the Licensed version of the code.
Modules in RED are generally CAN based units so you will need a ELM or higher function interface
Modules in BLACK will be OK with the free version HOWEVER the free version is limited in number of parameters that can be read at the same time and also a length of connection time restriction.

Regarding suitable interfaces and cables then look here: http://www.multiecuscan.net/Distributors.aspx

All these distributers supply compatible hardware and cables (check for your country). You can buy interfaces and cables from many other sources (e.g. eBay, China etc) but many of these have caused issues. See here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1493

To my knowledge a simple VAG COM / KKL cables have not been a common cause for problems with MultiECUScan so most cheap eBay/Chinese unit will probably be OK.

Personally, although a little more expensive, I would opt for products from one of the recommended distributors.

Hey, thanks for your comprehensive reply.

I did look, what interface i need for my car. Like you stated, before, i need ELM interface. I looked at distributors websites.
So, this is the ELM interface?

Yes that should work as 1) they are recommended distributer and 2) they claim MultiECUScan and AlfaOBD compatibility.

If you have problems then at least you have a reputable and contactable provider.
