FAULTY ELM 327 INTERFACES DE-MYSTIFIED (READ HERE)
Re: FAULTY ELM 327 INTERFACES DE-MYSTIFIED (READ HERE)
Hi Eddy,
thank you very much.
I am using the interface on alfa 156 1.9 jtd 16v (2005).
I will give it a try in the afternoon and report the results.

Hello Hamirom
I thought it but
For your Alfa 156, the resistor must not be removed.
The 156 does not have a CAN bus
If you can not connect to the ECU with this interface is that in the settings or if the wrong driver is installed.
Check the first again.
Greetings Eddy

Just to help the others:
I'm having Bluetooth elm 327, just like this one:
I had to remove the 120 ohm resistor (denoted in red): To open the unit I had to remove the label and below the caption there are four screws to be unscrewed. Pretty clean and easy tweak.

Hello Perlsite
Thanks for your help
But this has already been described in this thread at least 100 times

Hallo to all,
I finally found the problem connecting MES and my car via BT/ WiFi interface.
It is very simple solution.
In settings menu select only one interface and software will work.
So for example if you have 1 usb KKL interface + 1 usb ELM 237 interface + 1 WiFi interface MES will not work.
But if you select only 1 interface for example WiFi MES will work with that interface.
Maybe somewhere was already described when using interface without cable (BT/ WiFi) you need to select only one interface.

I agree that the general fix with removing resistor is discuses 100 times or more, but I'm obliged to disagree, IMHO, that you can find easily *exactly* my ELM 327 clone (although it has the same outer look) and implement the fix blindly!Alfaeddy wrote:But this has already been described in this thread at least 100 times
Actually I wasn't able to find my BT clone, here in this thread, just by looking at the pictures on each page from the first one to the last one. Maybe I missed the solution, but actually I had to search the ELM/PIC application note mentioned in the first post and actually review the datasheet and verify where the CAN+/- are and what are the actual requirements.
It will be fair if someone (probably the moderator) summarize the solution for all the different ELM 327 clones available on the market in a single post and then you can criticize if someone duplicate the effort and forget to read the first post. Personally for me it was frustrating not to find solution for my BT dongle.

Hello Perlsite
You're right
I know your Board structure
For this reason I thought this would have been already described.
If no image is set for this interface still here, of course you have
Right with your post

Re: FAULTY ELM 327 INTERFACES DE-MYSTIFIED (READ HERE)
Hello all,
I have just bought an ELM 327 (body like perlsite's post but PCB quite different, no composant to the back and resistors seems ok, I have taken photos if you want). ATZ command return ELM v1.5.
I want to access to the motor module of a Bravo 2 (2009) 1.6 Mjtd. With a registered version of MES, I have achieved a connexion to climate control (default and parameter reading, actuator test works) and body module, but when I tried to access to motor module, I have an ECU timeout.
Also scan module are not functionnal, progress bar is endless (about 30% after 5-10min with nothing written in the frame).
I don't know if it's an interface problem or not because I have tried some other OBD programs and they are not working either.
Even after reading lot of pages of this useful forum, I don't understand why I can't connect to motor module. Is it my ELM or I made a mistake?
Thank you for your help !
Regards
