Hello,
I've read all the posts I can find on this... I have:
--- the ElmScan5 Compact cable from Scantools. (Recently purchased directly form them.)
----the Multiecuscan 1.3 registered version.
---- Alfa 159 3.2 petrol JTS/Ti engine, manual gearbox.
The cable connects fine (had to manually change speed to 115000 baud for it to work.) Reads and does most things. However - when I went to reset the number of kms to next service it came back with "reset failed". I did manage to clear fault codes in other sections. It seems only the parameters in the "Service" module I get this "failed" message.
I did read somewhere that this cable may now use a clone chip (even though Scantools makes a big deal about not using clones) - either way can't seem to get it to reset these parameters in the Service section.
Any help appreciated...
Richard.

Re: ElmScan5 Compact Alfa 159 "Reset Failed"
Hello
I also have a ELM5 interface and it works without error
But why did you put the 115000, mine works fine with the usual 38,500
Try it again! With 38,500
In my ELM5 but no original ELM chip is built by the original are
identified by a sticker
Greetings Eddy

Re: ElmScan5 Compact Alfa 159 "Reset Failed"
Ok well I tried plugging the cable into a different USB port on my computer and it worked... so it was my computer that was the issue.
On my computer it only works if I set the port to 115200 baud. The others all get a timeout when the port is tested. Could be the computer but it does work now and I reset the service settings without issue.

Hello Richard
So the error was an incorrect COM port!
If your ELM5 runs with 115,000 well
Greetings Eddy
