That's what I'm beginning to suspect - or possibly the yaw sensor. I'd still like to identify which one, but the logging facility in Multiecuscan will not stay active for long enough!

That won't help in this situation; I have a 2002 147 2.0 Selespeed. It has a VDC problem. There is no error to be found with MultiECUScan. The VDC activates around corners. Sometimes.
