Having written the above tome on whether to switch or not to switch pin 3, I got lazy and just linked 3 to 7 with a bit of wire. It worked fine and I reset the airbag lights that had been on for about two years!

Re: Help please
Hi cmgunn3r, I've seen your similar posts on Fiat Forum. Have you seen the thread there for a reader for older Fiats? (can't remember thread title but something to do with cinquecento). The older Fiats used a protocol different from the OBD so I don't think the Multiecuscan program will work for you...

Re: VAG KKL cable connections
I have the KKL interface with the six-pin header and want to connect to air bag control unit. Before I source a 4-way DIP switch and do the mod to cut the third pin, is there any definitive information on why we ought not to connect pin 3 with the others? I have extracted the notes below from the IS...

Re: Do I need a newer FTDI driver? (latency error)
Failed! The latency error is still there, probably worse than with the earlier driver. Any ideas?

Re: Is there a preference of cable type?
Got a cheap KKL lead (£8.20 incl.delivery) and it works OK except that it shows the latency error. I got the latest driver for FTDi and set latency to minimum (1mS) but latency error still there.

Re: Help needed - is this a real error in air temp?
Engine coolant temp sensing seems OK now. I''ve cleaned the connections with solvent but would have liked to get into the socket contacts if I could figure out how to get it apart. I also noticed a gurgling noise and managed to bleed some air out so that wouldn't have been helping. Combined air temp...

Re: Help needed - is this a real error in air temp?
But my air temperature is showing 50 degs before I start the engine. Car was cold, engine was cold, I was cold..... but ECU he say 50 degs (assuming the programme is converting the parameter correctly to degs C). When engine was up to normal temperature (coolant at 80+ degs C) air temperature still ...

Re: Do I need a newer FTDI driver? (latency error)
I've installed driver V2.06.00 (from FTDi website). I can now set latency down to 1mS. Off to see if that cured the error message (still got to cure the engine fault though!)

Re: WTF!? My Laptop Is Slow As Hell
I'm no expert but if you provide more info, maybe someone can help. What platform is it? (e.g. Win98, Win2k, WinME, XP, Vista or Win7) Are we talking slow to start upor slow when running or both? Is it slow when using Internet? Did it used to be OK or has it always been like it? Did it start to go s...
