I also bought a second ELM from a FES advertised shop but I never got it working with the adapter.

Checking with a multimeter is no problem, compared to the wiring diagram on this site the adapter cable is fine...

Any other ideas ?

The problem is, the idea of rewiring the ELM I tried already before I bought the adapter but this also didnt work (this was the reason for buying a real adapter).

So I tried another car, a Fiat Grande Punto 1.2 8V, exactly the same problem with both ELMs.... I also tried the tipp from Electronic-Fuchs: Setting the "USB to Serial" Speed from "9600" to "38400" and the Latency Timer on 1. Still the same, using the adapter cable 3 I ...

Hm thats weird because it can connect to the motor ECU and read all the data from it... There wont be an easy way to find out what electric modification is needed? I cant get my handy on another one, I think Iam going to buy a third one (the first was a chinese bluetooth one which is already broken)...

I measured it, all connections are as you said, so the adapter cable seems to be fine.

Is it possible that the ELM327 is crap and cant do all ISO protocols?
