Argo thankyou for your resistor 14 mod, just one question do i still need to carry out mod with resistors and caps, as my elm 1.4 is working fine now as i moved can lines to 1 9 for punto evo 1.4 8v. anyone shed any light on this Mine works fine without but I suppose if you're keen then it's worth ...

Personally I wouldn't even bother (as it works with your laptop) but all the info you need is in this thread if you do want to go ahead with the RC mod.
It's a fair bit of messing around and I suspect it wont work anyway

Assuming you only destroyed R04 then I'd go ahead with the full mod suggested by Yani at the start of this thread which involves soldering in a simple RC network.

I found a quick and dirty solution: Bought the cheapest ELM327 interface from eBay (actually V1.4) Disassembled and found I had the board below. Using a craft knife I carefully destroyed the 120ohm resistor (R04 on the board). Be careful you don't damage R17 just beneath it. Resembled and it works a...
